聖書： イザヤ ６０：１-６； 詩編 ７２； エフェソ ３：２-６； マタイ ２：１-１２
聖書には真理を説明するために、よく具体的な例が出てきます。例えば、今日のマタイによる福音書には、ユダヤ人ではない3人が登場します。これは、イエスがすべての国と民族のための存在だと示しています。最初にイエスを礼拝したのはユダヤ人の羊飼いたちでした。
イエスはすべての人間の神であり、天から降りて私たちと同じように人間として生きられました。イエスはすべての国々の人にとって闇の中の光です（イザヤ書）。
今日の福音書に現れる昔の3人の博士は、今日の私たちとつながっています。彼らは神によって選ばれ、遠い国から全世界の救い主に会うためにやって来ました。
私たちクリスチャンは、神によって一人一人が御子イエスを知り、会うように選ばれています。私たちは世界で最も恵まれ、豊かです。今日、この重要な問いを自問してみましょう：「なぜ神は私を選ばれたのか？」 その答えは「私たちは神の賜物を分かち合うために選ばれた」のです。
2026年の今日、今週、誰かに親切と思いやりを示すことで、私たちの賜物を分かち合いましょう。暗闇の中ではキリストの光、混乱の中では平和の道具となりましょう。私たちを傷つけた人を赦しましょう。
3人の東方の博士はイエスに贈り物を捧げました。私たちも金（ゴールド）の代わりに自分自身をイエスに捧げましょう。毎日少し時間をとって、イエスに助けと導きを求めましょう。乳香の代わりに、身近な人に特別な優しさを示す贈り物をイエスに捧げましょう。没薬の代わりに、私たちを傷つけた人、嫌いな人を赦し、受け入れましょう。
第二朗読では、「私たちはキリストの約束の共同体です」（エフェソ3：6）とあります。この約束とは何でしょうか？それはキリストご自身が私たち一人一人に誓われた次の約束です：
「私はいつもあなたと共にいる。私はあなたを守る。」
これは素晴らしい約束です。たとえ私たちが神を忘れ、迷ったとしても、神は常に約束を守ってくださいます。神は忠実です。 「私たちの神は慈しみに満ち、慈悲と赦しに富んでおられます。」
公現とは、神が御子を私たちに示してくださることを意味します。神は私たちをイエスに導いてくださいました。私たちは世界で最も恵まれています。

Scripture: Isaiah 60:1-6; Psalm 72; Ephes. 3:2-6; Matt. 2:1-12
The Bible often uses concrete examples to explain a truth. For example, in today’s Gospel of Matthew we see 3 people who are not Jews. This tells us that Jesus is for all nations and peoples. The first to go to worship Jesus were Jewish shepherds.
Jesus, God of All humans, who came down from heaven and lived as a human being just like us. Jesus is the light in darkness for all nations (Isaiah).
Those 3 wise men of ancient times are our representatives today. They were chosen by God to come from a far country to meet the Savior of the whole world.
We Christians are chosen each of us by God to know and meet his Son, Jesus. We are the most gifted and rich people in the whole world. Let us today ask ourselves this important question “Why did God choose me?” The answer is “WE ARE CHOSEN TO SHARE GOD’S GIFT.”
This year of 2026, this week, this day let us share our gift by showing kindness and thoughtfulness to some other. Let us, in some way, be instruments of Christ’s light in darkness and peace in turmoil. Let us forgive those who have hurt us.
The 3 wise men brought gifts to Jesus. Let us bring the gift of ourselves to Jesus in place of gold, let us give Jesus some time each day to ask his help and guidance through each day. In place of frankincense let us offer Jesus the Gift of being especially kind to someone close to s. In place of myrrh let us forgive and accept someone who has hurt us, or whom we do not like.
In the second reading we read that “we are co-partners in the PROMISE of Christ.” (Ephes 3:6) what is those PROMISE? It is an each sworn by Christ himself to each of us:
“I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS. I WILL PROTECT YOU.”
That is an amazing promise. God always keeps his promise- even if we forget God and stray. God is faithful. “Our God is full of compassion, rich in mercy and forgiving.”
Epiphany means God showing us his Son. God has introduced us to Jesus. We are the most gifted people in the whole world.
Let us share God’s love with others.
