聖書：マラキ 3:19-20, 詩編 98, 2テサロニケ 3:7-12, ルカ21:5-19
イエスのたとえ話には、具体的なイメージがよく使われます。抽象的な概念よりも、こうしたイメージの方が私たちには理解しやすいのです。
たとえば、神様が私たちをどれほど深く知り、愛しておられるかを強調するために、今日の福音ではこう語られています。「あなたがたの髪の毛一本も失われることはない」（ルカ 21:18）また別の箇所では、「あなたの髪の毛までも一本残らず数えられている。恐れるな。」（ルカ 12:7）私たちは一人ひとり、神様にとって特別な存在です。神様は私たちを名で呼び、目には価高く、愛してくださいます（イザヤ 43）。
私たち人間は、肉体と霊魂から成り立っています。命と動きを与えるのは霊魂です。死に際しては、肉体は滅びますが、霊魂――つまり私たちの本質――は生き続けます。この地上での生活は、永遠の命に向けて備えるための、非常に短い期間なのです。今日の福音でイエスは、当時の人々に「立派に建てられた神殿もやがて崩れ去る」と語られました。しかし、神の国における神の愛は、永遠に続きます。実際、紀元70年にローマ軍が神殿を破壊しました。死から復活されたイエスは今も生きておられ、私たちと共におられます。
イエスは、私たち一人ひとりのために天国に席を用意してくださっています。「わたしの父の家には住む所がたくさんある。あなたがたのために場所を用意しに行く」（ヨハネ 14:2）ですから、自分の死について考えるとき、現実を受け止めましょう。恐れや暗い気持ちではなく、希望と信頼を持ちましょう。神様は私たちを愛しておられるのです。天国では、すべての傷が癒されます（今日のマラキ書）。そして、「すべての顔から涙はぬぐい去られる」（イザヤ 25:8）
答唱詩編には「喜び」という言葉が出てきます。喜び、希望、信頼、愛を持ちましょう。 私たちの神様は、優しく理解ある父であり、私たち一人ひとりを愛してくださる方です。イエスは、人生の道を共に歩む神の子として、私たちに勇気、忍耐、導き、そして希望を与えてくださいます。祈りの中で、人生の同伴者であるイエスとつながり続けましょう。イエスは、天国の門まで私たちを導いてくださいます。イエスは、私たちを名前で呼び、決して見捨てません。イエスは、私たちのために命を捧げてくださいました。（翻訳担当：S）

Scripture: Malachy 3:19-20; Psalm 98; 2 Tessa 3:7-12; Luke 21:5-19
Especially in the parables of Jesus, concrete imaginations are used. These are easier to understand than concepts. For example, to emphasize how much God knows and loves us, in today’s Gospel we read. When suffering comes, trust in God’s love : “Not a hair of your head will be destroyed.” (Today’s Gospel, Luke 21:18) In another place: “God even knows the number of hairs on your head. So do not be afraid.” (Luke 12:7) Each of us is a special human for our God. God calls us by name. We are precious in his eyes and he loves us. (Isaiah 43)
We humans are made up of body and soul. It is the soul that gives us life and movement. At death, it is just our body that dies. But our soul (which is our real self) lives on. Our time here on earth, which is comparatively very, very short, is a time gives us to prepare for eternal life with God in Heaven. In the Gospel, Jesus tells the people of that time that there well built Temple will be reduced to ruins. But God’s love in his Kingdom will live on. In AD 70, the Roman army reduced the Temple to rubble. But Jesus now Risen from the dead lives on and is with us now.
Jesus has told us that each of us has a reserved seat prepared for us in Heaven. “In my Father’s house (i.e. Heaven), there are many rooms. I go there to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:2) So when we think of our own death – let us face the fact! Let us not have dark fearful feelings. Rather let us have hope and trust in the God who loves us. In Heaven, there will be healing of all wounds (Today’s Malachy). “All our tears will be wiped away.” (Isaiah 25:8).
Note how the word “joy” comes into our Responsorial Psalm. Let us have joy, hope, trust, love.
Our God is a very kind and understanding Father who loves each of us as his Son, co – equal God, to walk the path of life with us. Jesus gives us courage, endurance, guidance – and hope. Let us keep in contact with our fellow – traveler Jesus in prayer. Jesus will lead us right up to the gates of Heaven. Jesus is our friend who calls us by name and never leaves us. Jesus gave up his life for us.
