聖書： 民数記218：4-9 詩編78 フィリピ 2：6-11 ヨハネ 3:13-17
今日、私たちは十字架上でのイエスの死を祝います。そうです、私たちは死を祝うのです！十字架上でイエスが命を捧げられたことによって、神が私たちに近づき、私たちは神の愛に結ばれました。
十字架を見て「こわい！」と言う人もいます。しかし、十字架を見る時、イエスに心から「ありがとうございます」と言いましょう。十字架を手にして祈り、その意味――愛、共感、励まし――を深く味わいましょう。
四つの福音書には、イエスが十字架上で語られた7つの言葉が記されています。それは次のとおりです。
(1)「父よ、彼らをお赦しください。自分が何をしているのか、知らないのです。」
ルカ23:34
イエスはしばしば、人を許すようにと教えています。ここでは、イエスは行動によってそれを教えています。私たち人間は、他人に傷つけられると、許すのが難しく、不可能に思えることがよくあります。イエスに助けを求めましょう。
(2)「あなたは今日わたしと一緒に楽園にいる」
ルカ23:43
これは、イエスの傍らで十字架につけられた泥棒の死を迎える祈りです。彼は言いました。「イエスよ、私を思い出してください。」私たちも死を迎えるときに、この美しい言葉を聞くことができますように。有名な聖歌「ガリラヤの風かおる丘で」の3節で、「すくいの御言葉を私にも聞かせてください」と私たちは祈ります。
(3)「婦人よ、御覧なさい。あなたの子です。」 「見なさい。あなたの母です。」
ヨハネ 19:26-27
イエスの母マリアと弟子ヨハネが十字架の下に立っています。ヨハネは私たちの代表です。イエスは御母を私たちに霊的な母として与えてくださいます。
(4)「わが神、わが神、なぜわたしをお見捨てになったのですか」
マタイ 27:46
イエスは100%の人間として、人間の心の経験をしています。神に見捨てられたと感じ、神の慰めを感じることができません。この言葉は詩篇22篇からの引用です。詩篇の終わりには、神の慰めと力が与えられます。
（5）「渇く」
ヨハネ 19:28
イエスは、流された血によって肉体的に非常に渇いておられます。しかし、イエスは私たちに平和と愛と友情を与えたいという渇望もお持ちです。
（6）「成し遂げられた」
ヨハネ 19:30
父なる神は、すべての人に福音を伝えるために、御子をこの世に遣わしました。神が一人ひとりに伝える「私はあなたを愛している」という良い知らせです。
（7）「父よ、私の霊を御手にゆだねます。」
ルカ23:46
イエスは詩篇31篇を祈っています。「神に自分自身を捧げる」というこの感覚は大変重要です。（T）

Scripture: Numbers 21:4-9; Psalm 78; Philippians 2:6-11; John 3:13-17
Today we celebrate the death of Jesus on the Cross. Yes, we celebrate a death! Because by the sacrifice of his life on the cross, we are now close to God, and God is close to us in love.
Some people see a crucifix and say: ‘Terrible!’ However, when we see the crucifix, let us say a big ‘thank you’ to Jesus. As a prayer I recommend you to hold the crucifix in your hands and ponder the meaning – love, Compassion, encouragement.
In the four Gospels we read how Jesus spoke from the cross seven times. They are:
(1) “Father! Forgive the ones who are crucifying me. They do not really know what they are doing.”
Luke 23:34
Jusus often tells us to forgive others. Here Jesus teaches us by deed. When we humans get hurt by another, it is often hard or even seems impossible to forgive. Let us ask Jesus to help us.
(2) “Today you will be with me in paradise”
Luke 23:43
This is the dying prayer of the robber being crucified beside Jesus. He said: “Jesus, remember me.” May we hear this beautiful word as we die. In our popular hymn “Galilee breeze”, 3rd verse we pray: “Jesus cause me to hear these words of life.”
(3) “My Mother! This is your son.” “Son, this is your Mother.”
John 19:26-27
Mary, the Mother of Jesus and the disciple John stand beneath the Cross. John is the representative of us all. Jesus gives his Mother to us as our spiritual Mother.
(4) “My God! My God! Why have you forsaken me?”
Mattew 27:46
Jesus as a 100% human is experiencing a human state of heart. He feels deserted by God and cannot feel God’s comfort. These words are from Psalm 22. In the Psalm at its end, God’s comfort and strength comes.
(5) “I thirst.”
John 19:28
Jesus is physically very thirsty after all the blood he has lost. But Jesus also has a thirst to give us peace, love and friendship.
(6) “My life’s work is completed.”
John 19:30
God the Father sent the Son into the world with a mission to give the Good News, to each person. That ‘News’ is to each by God “I love you!”
(7) “Father! I give my life, my spirit, into your hands.”
Luke 23:46
Jesus is praying Psalm 31. This sense of offering ourselves to God is important.
