聖書： アモス 6:4-7 詩編 146; 1テモテ 6：11-16; ルカ 16:19-31
今日の福音書を読むと、以前は落胆していました。アシジの聖フランシスコのような聖人たちや教皇フランシスコの生涯も、貧しい人々を助けることを大切にしています。
私には、教区の人たちが司教を通して給料を支払ってくれ、衣食住も用意されています。誰も私を、貧しい、とは言わないでしょう！でも、貧困は、イエスに従う者にとって大切な要素です。そして、貧しい人々への配慮は非常に重要です。「私は一体、何をしているのだろう？」と自問します。そして、聖書の一節を読み、その答えを見つけました。トビト記です。 「あなたが豊かに持っているなら、その分け前を貧しい人々に施しなさい」（トビト記 4章15-19節）
貧しい人々と分かち合うことは大切です。今、日本で、私たちは比較的恵まれた生活を送っています。ですから、私たちが安全で快適な生活を送っていることを神に感謝しましょう。神に感謝するのは、私たちの生活、私たちを取り巻く環境が神の賜物だからです。
イエスは「あなたがたの天の父があわれみ深いように、あなたがたもあわれみ深くありなさい」と言っています。ここで「あわれみ深く」とは、他人の気持ちを深く理解することです。もし私たちが家を失い、外で暮らさなければならないとしたら、どんな気持ちになるでしょうか。「ガザの子どもたちのように、全身で食べ物を渇望していたら、どんな気持ちになるだろう？」－自問してみましょう。「北ミャンマーの人々のように、自分の家が爆撃で破壊されたら、どんな気持ちになるだろうか？」彼らの心に寄り添うことで、「あわれみ」が生まれます。マタイによる福音書25章で、イエスはこう言っています。「あなたがたが飢えている人、渇いている人、見知らぬ土地に暮らす人、病気の人、牢獄にいる人を助けたのは、私を助けたのと同じである。」 （マタイ25章）
アモスの時代、金持ちは非常に自己中心的でした。彼らは自分の利益しか考えず、貧しい人々を利用し、見下していました。
今日の福音書の中で、イエスは生き生きとしたたとえ話を語ってくれます。たとえ話とは、私たちに考えさせ、自分自身にとって重要なメッセージを見出させてくれる物語です。
たとえ話の中で、金持ちは、ラザロを蹴るとか、具体的な危害を加えたわけではありません。金持ちは、ラザロを、まるで存在しないかのように、無視しました。金持ちは自己中心的で、自分と家族のことしか考えませんでした。貧しく苦しんでいるラザロが家の戸口にいても、金持ちは無視しました。金持ちは「知らん顔」でした。私たちはどう行動すべきでしょうか？
現在、日本は経済的には恵まれています。しかし、隠れたところに、ホームレス、シングルマザー、孤独な老人など、この競争社会に適応できない人々がたくさんいます。私たちは彼らの気持ちを理解しているでしょうか？共感しているでしょうか？貧しい人々と分かち合っているでしょうか？
新子安教会では、貧しい人々のために米の寄付を募り、贈っています。教区では、今日の移民や難民のための献金のように、特別に献金します。さあ、皆さん、分かち合いましょう！
聖パウロはこう書いています。「イエスは、私たちが豊かになるために、ご自身を貧しくされました」（コリントの信徒への手紙２ ８：９）。神なる御子イエスは、私たちに素晴らしい贈り物を与えるために、真に人間となられたのです。(翻訳担当：A)

Scripture: Amos 6:4-7; Psalm 146; 1 Tim 6:11-16; Luke 16:19-31
I used to get discouraged when I read today’s Gospel. Also the lives of some saints like St. Francis of Assisi, and Pope Francis emphasis on helping the poor. I used to think, here I am in a parish where the parishioners, through the Bishop, pay me a wage. My clothing, food and lodging are provided. I cannot be called poor! But poverty is an important part of being a follower of Jesus. And care of the poor is very important. I ask myself: “What am I doing?” Then I read a passage in the Bible that gave me answer. The passage is from the Book of Tobit.
“When you have plenty devote a portion to the poor” (Tobit 4 15-19)
Sharing with the poor is important. At present we in Japan are fairly comfortable. So let us thank God that we are safe and comfortable. Saying thank you to God means that our life and its surroundings are his gift.
Jesus tells us; “Be compassionate as your heavenly Father is compassionate” Here “compassionate” means to feel deeply with others. What would we feel like if we were homeless and had to live in a part. Let us ask ourselves: “How would I feel if my whole body was yearning for food like the children of Gaza?” “How would I feel if I saw my home destroyed by bombs as do the people of north Myanmar?” Getting into their hearts will give us “compassion” In Matthew’s Gospel, chapter 25, Jesus says to us: “When you helped someone who was hungry, thirsty, a stranger, sick or in prison, you helped me.” (Matt. 25)
At the time of Amos the rich were very self-centered. They thought only of their own comfort. They used the poor. They looked down on the poor.
Jesus in today’s Gospel gives us a vivid parable. A parable is a story causing us to think and discover the important message for ourselves.
In the parable the rich man did no physical harm to Lazarus – like kicking him. The rich man just ignored Lazarus as if he did not exist. The rich man was self-centered. He only thought of himself and his family. Poor, suffering Lazarus at his door was ignored. The rich man had a ‘no-see-face’. How do we act?!
In Japan at present the economy is prosperous. But hidden away, there are many homeless, single mothers, lonely old people, some who cannot keep up in this competitive society. Do we feel with them? Do we have compassion? Do we share with the poor?
In Shinkoyasu we have rice collection for the poor. The diocese has special collections- such as today for immigrants and refugees. Let us share!
St. Paul writes: “Jesus made himself poor so that we may be rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9). God the Son become really human to give us a wonderful gift.
