聖書：シラ書15・5-20、詩編119、1コリ2・6-10、マタイ5・17-37
神様からの賜物である「知恵」が、今日のミサで読まれる（歌われる）シラ書、詩編119編、そしてパウロの手紙のテーマです。
パウロは、この「知恵」はこの世の知恵――人が賢いとか、学者だとか言われるような知恵――ではないと強調します。
そして、この神様からの知恵は「聖なること」や宗教的な考察のためだけに与えられるのではないことを心に留めることがとても大切です。 神様からの知恵の賜物は、私たちの平凡な日々の行いの中で働いています。
私たちは、イエスが示してくださる「人生の道」を選ぶために、この知恵を必要としています。 シラ書は、私たちがどうしても選ばなければならないと語ります。 私たちは、「この人生は何のためにあるのか」という人生の根本的な問いに向き合うとき、神様の知恵を必要とします。 将来について考えるときにも、神様からの知恵が必要です。 神様がいつも私たちを守り導いてくださることに気づくためにも、復活したイエスが人生の道を同伴してくださることに気づくためにも、この知恵が必要です。 十字架を見たとき、それがイエスが私たちのためにいのちを捧げてくださったしるしであり、私たち一人ひとりへの愛であると悟るためにも、神様からの知恵が必要です。
また、福音の中でイエスが私たちに示してくださるものが幸せへと導く道しるべであることを理解するためにも、知恵が必要です。 それらは厳しく、守るのが難しい「掟」ではありません。
そして何よりも、私たちが弱い存在であり、神様の助けを必要としていることに気づくために知恵が必要なのです。
けれども、神様の知恵の賜物は、聖なること、宗教的なこと、道徳的なことだけのためではありません。 寛大な神様は、私たちの日常の行いのために知恵を与えてくださいます。 聖書には、家を建てる人々を知恵が導いたとあります。 衣を縫う女性たち、船を操る船長、天幕を作る人々、典礼を歌う人々を神様が導かれたと語られています。 エレミヤ書では、学のない老婆が軍の将軍にアドバイスする場面さえあります。 神様は、現代の私たちの生活や仕事のためにも知恵を与えてくださいます。
神の言葉、「みことば」である聖書はこう語っています。 「あなたがたの中で知恵の欠けている人がいれば、だれにでも惜しみなくとがめだてしないでお与えになる神に願いなさい。そうすれば、与えられます。」（ヤコブ1・5）（翻訳担当：K）

God’s gift of wisdom is the theme of Shira, Psal,119; and Paul’s scripture.
Paul says strongly that this ‘wisdom’ is not wisdom of this world, where a person may be said to be wise, a scholar!
And it is very important to note that this wisdom from God is not just for ‘holy things’ or religious thoughts. The gift of wisdom from God is active in our everyday deeds.
We need wisdom to choose the path of life that Jesus offers us. Shira tells that we must choose. We need wisdom from God when we face a basic question: “What is this life all about.” We need wisdom from God when we think about our future! We need God’s wisdom to realize that God always protects and guides us. We need wisdom to realize that the Risen Jesus walks the path of life with us. We need God’s wisdom that when we see a crucifix that it Jesus offering his life for us to realize that this is love for each of us.
We need wisdom to understand that Jesus in the Gospel gives us sign-posts to happiness. They are not strict, hard to keep restrictions.
And above all we need wisdom to realize we are weak and need help from God.
But God’s gift of wisdom is not just for holy things, religious things, moral things. It is given to us by a generous God for our every day actions. The Bible says wisdom guided men who built houses. That God guided woman who were sewing, captains who sailed ships, to make tents, to sing of liturgy, in Jeremiah one uneducated grandmother advices an army general. God gives us wisdom for our modern life and work.
God’s word, scripture tells us：”if any of you need wisdom, ask God to give it to you. It will be given. God is generous“(James1:5)
