聖書：ミカの預言5:1-4; 詩編80; ヘブライ人への手紙10:5-10; ルカ1:38-45
聖母訪問はわたしたちの降誕祭の準備の模範です
今日の最初の聖書朗読は預言者ミカのものです。最後の行でミカは、約束された救い主が力を持つことを予言しています。そして、救い主が平和となることが書かれています。約束された救い主が生まれる夜に、天使たちは「地には平和」と告げました。復活した救い主イエスは言います。「私の平和を与える。私の平和をあなたたちに残す。」しかし、今日の世界ではたくさんの戦争があります。私たちは「なぜ神様は私たちに平和を与えてくれないのか？」と疑問に思うでしょう。
神様が私たち人間をお造りになったとき、人間に自由意志をお与えになられました。イエスは私たちに平和を与えてくださいますが、平和を受けるには自らの意志でイエスの招きに応えることが必要です。多くの人々がその招きに応じないので、戦争が起こります。平和は私たち一人一人から始まります！無力だと思わないでください。少なくとも暗闇の中に1本のロウソクを灯しましょう。「私の心の中に平和はあるか」という問いを自問してみましょう。心の平和に関してさらに重要な問いは「私は自分中心的になっていないか」です。アッシジの聖フランシスコの「平和の祈り」には「主よ、あなたの平和の道具として私をお使いください。」とあります。その後に続く祈りは、わたしたちに他者中心であることを求めています。例えば「主よ、私は慰められるよりも、慰めることができますように。」とあります。
今日の福音書では、マリア様が他者中心であることの具体例が描かれています。天使はマリア様に、神の母、つまり約束された救い主の母になるよう頼みました。この依頼にマリア様は困惑します。天使は「恐れることはない、主があなたと共にいる」とマリア様に伝えます。これを聞いてマリア様は「はい」と答え、聖霊の力によって神の母となりました。マリア様はちょうどヨゼフと婚約したばかりで、結婚の準備が必要でした。マリア様は忙しかったのです。しかし、マリア様は自分の都合を脇に置き、妊娠している親戚のエリザベトを手助けするために150キロも歩いて行きました。マリア様はエリザベトに喜びと励ましをもたらしました。この行いは私たちの手本です。今日からクリスマスまでの3日間、私たちも同じことをしましょう。年末、私たちは忙しいのですが、他の人のことも考えましょう。
答唱詩編80では、「ください」という言葉が9回繰り返されています。9つのお願いが書かれています。祈りの中で、イエスに以下のことをお願いしましょう。
① 平和：心、家庭、学校、職場での平和。日本だけでなく世界に平和が訪れますように。
② 力：自己中心的でなく他人を想うマリア様の手本に倣う力。特に忙しい今の時期に。
③ 理解：神様ご自身が天国から下り、私たちの人間生活を共有されたことの意味を理解すること。イエスは親しみやすい方です。私たちの話を聞いてくれます。毎日祈りの中でわたしたちの神様であるイエスに出会いましょう。
④ 生活の中で最も望むことをイエスに伝えましょう。

Scripture: Miach 5:1-4; Psalm 80; Hebrews 10:5-10; Luke 1:38-45
In today’s first Scripture reading from the prophet Miach, in the last linesMiach prophesies that the promised savior will have power. And the Saviorhimself will be peace. Then on the night of birth of the promised Savior,Jesus from Heaven the angels tell of peace on earth. Then the Risen SaviorJesus says: “My peace. I give you my peace. I leave with you.”
But in the world of today, there are numerous wars. We may ask: “Whydoes not God give us peace?”
When God created us, he gave humans free will. Jesus offers us peace, butwith free will, we need to accept the invitation to enjoy peace. So manyrefuse that invitation, so we have war.
Peace starts with each of us! Do not feel helpless. Light at least one candlein our darkness. Let us Ask ourselves: “Do I have peace of heart.” A morefundamental question, related to peace of heart is: “Am I self-centered?” The “Prayer of Peace” by St. Francis of Assisi has: “O Load. Use me as aninstrument of your peace.” Then the prayer that follows calls on us to beother-centered. For example. “O Load, rather be consoled, may I consoleothers.”
In the Gospel today, we see Mary as a concrete example of other centeredness. Mary is asked by the Angel to be the Mother of God, that is,the Mother of the promised Savior. This request perplexes Mary. Then theAngel tells Mary: “Do not be afraid because the Load is with you.” Hearingthis, Mary says ‘Yes’, and by the power of God the Holy Spirit, she becomesthe Mother of God. Mary has just been engaged to Joseph, so preparationsfor the wedding are necessary. Mary is busy. But Mary put aside her ownconvenience and walks 150 kilos to help her relation Elizabeth who is alsopregnant. Mary gives joy and encouragement to Elizabeth. This is ourexample. In the 3 days to the Birth of Christ, let us do same. At year-end,we too are busy, but let us think of others.
In the Responsorial Psalm 80, the word “please” is repeated 9 times. With9 requests. In prayer, let us ask Jesus for
① Peace – in our own hearts, our family, school, workplace in Japan and inthe world.
② Strength to follow Mary’s example of not thinking of self, but of other especially in this busy time.
③ A realization of what it really means for God himself to come down andshare our human life. Jesus is so approachable. Jesus listens to us. Letus meet Jesus, our God, in prayer each day.
④ Tell Jesus what you want most in this life.
