聖書朗読：使徒たちの宣教 14：21-27; 詩篇 145; ヨハネの黙示 21：1-5; ヨハネ 13：31-35
「私があなたがたを愛したように互いに愛しあいなさい これが私の掟である」
皆さんにお知らせがあります。それはイエス様からです。
イエス様は、「私はあなた方を、ありのままに愛している」と仰っています。
これは、どこか遠くにいる人が私達に向かって話し、愛しているのではありません。復活したイエス様が、私達の傍で、生きている声で語っているのです。
イエス様がどれほど私達を愛してくださっているか、深く思い巡らしましょう。イエス様はご自分のいのちを、私達の為に自ら進んで捧げて下さいました -これが愛です- 。
イエス様は今日も、ご自分が示した道を歩むようにと、私達に道しるべを与えて下さっています。それは、「私があなた方を愛したように、互いに愛し合いなさい」ということです。
イエス様は私達人間の短所、弱さ、罪を知っています。そしてその私達をありのままに受け入れて下さるのです。
私達人間は、ある人達を愛するのは難しい（時には不可能だ）と感じます。例えば、私達を傷つけ、裏切る人々というのは、私達に対して冷たい態度をとり、侮辱し、悪口を言い、見下した態度をとります。 ― このような人達を愛するのは困難です。そして時に、「私の好みのタイプではない」人や、冷たく気難しい人、神経質な人や気位の高い人、自己中心的な人、又、価値観や考え方が違う人、うるさい人や鈍感な人などがいます。
どうしたら私達はこのような人々を愛することが出来るでしょうか？ イエス様が私達に、人を愛しなさいと言う時は、その人に対し、温かく良い感情を持ちなさいという意味で言っているのではありません。イエス様は欠点も全部含めて、その人をありのままに受け入れなさいという意味で言っておられるのです。イエス様は私達に対してそうしておられます。そして、私達にも同じようにするようにと願っているのです。ですから、私達はこの特別な優しい愛を、「私（イエス）が愛するように」と呼ぶことができます。イエス様はまた、「人を裁いてはならない」とも言っておられます。
次のことはとても重要です。私達はイエス様からの励ましと導きという助けが無ければ、このように愛することはできません。イエス様は私達の力なのです。ですから、私達は人生の中で、自分の力に頼っていては、彼の要請を実現することは出来ないということを自覚しながら、イエス様の助けを頼りましょう。
さあ、祈りの中で、私達の神であるイエスのもとへ行きましょう。「主は恵みとあわれみに満ち、怒るにおそく、慈しみ深い。」（今日の詩編145）
「主は優しく、私達の目の涙をことごとくぬぐい取ってくださる。（第二朗読、黙示録）
5th Sunday EASTER Year C 18/5/25
Scripture：Acts 14:21-27; Psalm145; Revelation21:1-5; John 13:31-35
I have an announcement! It is from Jesus.
Jesus says: “I LOVE YOU – as-you-are.”
This is not some far-distant person speaking or loving us. It is the Risen Jesus beside us, with a living voice.
Let us consider how much Jesus loves us. Jesus freely gave up his life for us – that is LOVE.
Jesus today gives us a sign-post to walk the path he shows us. It is: LOVE ONE ANOTHER, AS I HAVE LOVED YOU”
Jesus knows all our human fault, failings, and sins. And accepts us as – we-are.
We humans find it difficult (at time almost impossible) to ‘love’ some people. Those who have hurt us or betrayed us are cold towards us, insult us, bad-mouth us, look down on us. – such people are hard to love! Then there are people who are ‘just not my type’, people with cold and difficult personalities, fussy people, proud people, self-centered people, one with different values and thoughts, noisy and dull people!
How can we possibly ‘love’ such people? When Jesus tells us to love others, he does not mean having a nice warm feeling for a person. Jesus means to accept that person as-he-is – with all the faults. Jesus does this for us, and asks us to do the same. So we can call this special kind of love ‘AS I LOVE’. Jesus also says ‘Do not judge others.’
The following point is very important. We cannot love this way without help, courage and guidance from Jesus. Jesus is our strength. So let us ask Jesus for this help acknowledging that on our own strength we cannot put his command into our lives.
So let us go to Jesus our God in prayer “The Lord is kind and full of compassion, slow to anger abounding in love.” (Today’s Psalm 145) “The Lord will gently wipe away ever tear from our eyes.” (2nd reading, Revelation)
