聖書：使徒言行録 1：1-11；詩編 47；ヘブライ 9：24-10：23；ルカ 24：46-53
「行け行け 地の果てまで」
神の子、神ご自身が人間となられました。イエスは私たちと同じ人間で、中東の小さな国で33年間、人間としての人生を歩まれました。それは今から2000年前のことです。そしてイエスは天に昇られました。しかし、その言葉には、復活した救い主イエスが地上に降り立ち、私たちの間に生きているという意味があります。この驚くべき真理を理解するには、信仰の目が必要です。言い換えると、場所や時間の制限はもはや存在しないのです。復活したイエスは横浜で、私たちの心と家庭に生きています。フランシスコ教皇はこう記されました：「復活したイエスはいつも私たちの傍らを歩んでくださり、私たちに光と力と自由を与えてくださいます。」
イエスは私たちと共にいるために天に帰られました。天で私たち人間の代表として、私たちのためにお祈りください。イエスは聖霊を私たちに送り、力と励ましと導きを与えてくださいます。
イエスは私たち一人一人にこう言われます。「私はあなたがたのために天国に場所を用意しておいた」（ヨハネ14：2）。そうです、天国には特別な席が用意されているのです！私たちは皆、「希望の巡礼者」です。天国は私たちの人生の目的地です。イエスが私たちと共に人生の道を歩んでくださいます。死は人生の終わりではありません。死は天国での新しい生命の始まりです。今日のミサの冒頭の祈りにあるように、「昇天は私たちの未来がどのようなものになるかを示します」。それが天国における永遠の幸福です。
福音書には、イエスが私たち弱い人間に対して抱いている理解と慈悲の例が記されています。自分はローマ軍の占領軍を追い払う救世主ではないと、弟子たちに告げたにもかかわらず、彼らは鈍感で、依然としてイエスをこの世の救い主だと考えていました。イエスは心のための存在です！そのイエスが、私たちに対して優しく、理解を示してくださいます。第二朗読のヘブライ人への手紙にあるように、「信頼しきって、真心から神に近づこうではありませんか。…揺るぎない信仰告白を守りましょう。」約束された方は信頼できる方です。それが私たちに希望を与えてくれます。
イエスは私たち一人一人を選び、計り知れないほどの賜物を注いでくださいました。私たちは世界で最も豊かな者です。でも、なぜイエスは私たちを選んだのか、考えてみましょう。その賜物を他の人々と分かち合うために、イエスは私たちにこう言われました。「全世界に行って、私の証人となりなさい。」これは、言葉や模範によって信仰の賜物を分かち合うことを意味します。イエスが示してくださった優しさ、理解、そして許しを、私たちも他の人々に示しましょう。この証しを、私たち自身の家庭、親戚や友人の間、学校や職場、そして出会うすべての人々で始めましょう。人々は私たちの愛によって、私たちがクリスチャンであることを知るでしょう。

Scripture: Acts 1:1-11; Psalm 47; Heb. 9:24 -10:23; Luke 24:46-53
The child of God, God Himself, became a human. Jesus was human, like us. But Jesus lived that human life for 33 years in the small Middle East country, Israel. And that was 2000 years ago!
Then Jesus climbed to Heaven. But behind those words there is the meaning that Jesus, the Risen Savior, comes down to earth and lives amongst us. We need the eyes of faith to grasp this marvelous truth. In other words, the limitations of place and time no longer exist. The Risen Jesus lives in Yokohama, in our own hearts and home. As Pope Francis wrote: “The Risen Jesus always walks beside us. Jesus gives us light, strength and freedom.”
Jesus has returned to Heaven so that he can be with us. In Heaven as the representative of us humans, pray for us. Jesus sends the Holy Spirit to us, giving us strength, encouragement and guidance.
Jesus says to each of us: “I have prepared a place for you in Heaven (John 14:2). Yes, we have a special reserved seat in Heaven!
We are all ‘Pilgrim of Hope’. Heaven is our life’s destination. Jesus walks the road of life with us. Death is not the end of life. Death is the beginning of new life – in Heaven. As the opening prayer of today’s Mass says: “The Ascension to Heaven shows us what our future will be like” That is eternal happiness in Heaven.
In the Gospel we see an example of the understanding and compassion that Jesus has to us frail humans. Despite telling the disciples that he was NOT a savior to chase out the occupying army of the Romans, they were dull and still thought of a Savior of the world. Jesus is for hearts! The same Jesus is gentle and understanding of us. As in the second reading from Hebrews: “We can approach Jesus with a sincere heart and absolute trust….let us hold unwaveringly to our confession that gives us hope, for he who made the promise is trustworthy.”
Jesus has chosen each of us and poured us with immense gifts, we are the richest people in the world. But why has Jesus chosen us? To share those gifts with others, Jesus tells us loc: “Go into the whole world to be my witness.” That means to share the gift of faith by word or example. Let us show the kindness, understanding and forgiveness of others that Jesus shows us. This witness begins in our own home, among our relatives and friend, at our school or workplace, and everyone we meet. People will know we are Christians by our love.
