聖書：使徒言行録 2:1-11; 詩編 104; ローマ 8:8-17; ヨハネ 14:15-26
「助け主である聖霊よ 弱いわたしたちを強めてください」
イエスが昇天した後、使徒言行録第2章には、弟子たちは一つの部屋に集まっていたことが書かれています。なぜ弟子たちは二階の部屋で戸をしっかりと閉めて閉じこもっていたのでしょうか。それは、イエスのように殺されることを恐れていたからです。長老たちはイエスばかりでなくイエスに従う者たちも憎んでいました。また弟子たちは孤独でした。
親友のイエスがいなくなったからです。さらに、自分たちがイエスを見捨てたことへの罪悪感も抱えていました。このような不安にもかかわらず、イエスの昇天前の最後の言葉は「私の証し人として、世界の果てまで行きなさい」でした。しかし、いったいどうやって、十分な教育を受けていない弟子たちがイエスやイエスの教えを伝えられるでしょうか。弟子たちは自信がありませんでした。弱さを感じていました。
弟子たちは、弱さ、自信なさ、そしてイエスの教えを思い起こす力が無いことを理解していました。弱さに打ちひしがれていたのです。そこで、彼らはイエスが約束したことを求め、祈りました。それは、彼らを守るために横にいる「弁護者」でした。彼らを力づけ、導き、話す言葉を与えてくれる存在—つまり聖霊です。
聖霊が命の息吹として弟子たちの上に降りました。聖霊は愛の炎と暖かな存在でした。弟子たちは変わったのです。戸を開き、公然とイエスのことを話すようになったのです。言葉が与えられました。
初代教会において、聖霊は目に見える形で降臨しました。
聖霊は今日の私たちにも働いています。私たちの心の中で静かに働いています。ここで、自分自身に問いかけてみましょう。私は、家庭や職場など、身近な社会でイエスを証しすることに力不足だと感じていないだろうか。自信がないと感じることはないか。子どものように神様を「アッバ（父）」と呼び、信頼しているか。恐れや不安、疲れを感じていないだろうか。ストレス、孤独や痛みを抱えていないだろうか。もし「はい」と思うなら、私たちは聖霊の助けを必要としています。イエスに祈りましょう。「イエスよ、聖霊
を私に送ってください。聖霊の助け、勇気、励ましを必要としています。」聖書には、聖霊の助けが私たちに必要であると書かれています。
① アッバ（父）である神様を信頼するために
② イエスの道について自信を持って語るために
③ 聖書の深い意味を理解するために
④ イエスの教えを思い起こすために
⑤ 日常生活の中で助けと導きを得るために
聖霊の愛と暖かさ、勇気と導きは、宗教的なことだけに限らず、私たちのすべての 生活に関わっています。
「聖霊よ 来てください」

Scripture: Acts 2:1-11; Psalm 104; Romans 8:8-17; John 14:15-26
After Jesus ascended into Heaven, we read in Acts 2 : ”They were all in one room.” Why were they in this 2nd story room with the door firmly locked? They were afraid that they would die like Jesus. The elders hated Jesus and his followers too. Also the disciples were very lonely. Their close friend was with them no more. They were also filled with shame for having deserted Jesus. Beside all those worries, Jesus in his last words to them said : “Go into the whole world as my witness.” How could poorly educated men tell people about Jesus and his teaching? The disciples had no self-confidence. They felt weak!
The disciples acknowledged their weakness, lack of confidence and inability to remember the teachings of Jesus. They acknowledged their weakness. THEN, they prayed for the help that Jesus had promised them. An ‘advocate’ that is, someone who would stand beside them to defend them. That is, Jesus promised the Holy Spirit who would strengthen, guide them and give words.
The Holy Spirit came down on them as breath, that is life. And as fire or warmth of love. They were changed men. They opened the door and taught publicly about Jesus. Words were given to them.
In the very beginning of the Church, the Holy Spirit came down in a spectacular way.
THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES DOWN ON US TODAY. But now, the Holy Spirit works quietly in our hearts.
Let ask ourselves these questions. : Do I feel inadequate to be a witness of Jesus in my small society – home, workplace? Do I lack confidence? Do I trust God as a child who calls Him “Abba” Do I have fear, anxiety, worry and tiredness? Am I feeling stress, loneliness and hurt? If ‘yes’, WE NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT. Let us pray to Jesus. : “Jesus, please send the Holy Spirit to me. I need this help, courage, encouragement.
Scripture tells us we need the help of the Holy Spirit.
① to trust our God, ABBA, with our lives. TRUST
② to speak with confidence about Jesus the Way
③ to understand the deep meaning of Scripture
④ to call to mind the teachings of Jesus
⑤ to help and guidance us in our everyday life
The love, warmth, courage and guidance is not just for ‘holy things’ but also for everyday life. “Come Holy Spirit”
