「私たちの弱さの中にイエス様の力が働かれます」
聖書は唯一無二です。他のどの本とも違います。聖書は、神ご自身の言葉（みことば）だからです。
福音書は2000年前に書かれましたが、「神の言葉は生きており、力を発揮する」（ヘブライ4・12）とあるように、復活されたイエスは、今日も生きている声で私たちに語りかけておられます。応えましょう！
今日の福音の中で、イエスは一人ひとりの顔を見つめて、こう尋ねられます。「あなたがたは、わたしを何者だと言うのか？」これは、とても大切な問いかけです。私たちの答えは、正直であるべきです。本や他人がどう言っているかではなく、イエスが求めているのは、あなた自身の正直な答えです。（たとえ私たちの持つイエスのイメージがぼんやりしたものでも、イエスは、ありのままの私たちを受け入れてくださいます。）イエスはペトロに、そして今日私たちに、語りかけます。イエスをどのように思い描き、どのような存在として受け入れるのか――それは、父である神様から与えられる「恵み」です。復活されたイエスに出会うために、まず神様にその素晴らしい賜物（恵み）を願い求めましょう。
これから私（ケンズ）の答えを皆さんと分かち合います。
イエスのイメージは人によって違うでしょう。ですからこれはケンズのイメージです。わたしにとってイエスは、親しい友です。最後の晩餐で、イエスは弟子たちに「あなたがたを友と呼ぶ」と仰せになりました。
友とは、わたしのすべてを知っていて、どんなときも、ありのままのわたしを受け入れてくれる存在です。
人間である私たちは、自分の気持ちを他の人と分かち合いたいという望みがあります。嬉しいことがあるとき、わたしは友であるイエスと喜びを分かち合えます。また、心配ごとがあるとき、病気のとき、虚しく感じるときも、そのままの気持ちをイエスに打ち明けることができます。
ときにはイエスの示される道に同意できないことがあります。イエスが遠くに感じられ、不在のように思えることもあります。しかし、イエスがわたしの最も信頼できる友であるからこそ、「その導きには納得がいかない」と、正直にぶつけることができるのです。本当の友情とはそういうものだと思います。
また、わたしはイエスを、人生の道の「同伴者」だと考えます。「わたしは道である」とイエスは言われます。イエスは、人生の道を示してくださるだけでなく、わたしのすぐそばを歩んでくださいます。
そのことが私を励まし、支え、導き、力を与えてくれます。
イエスの道の教えや掟ももちろん大切ですが、わたしたちの信仰において最も大切なのは、イエスご自身です。
イエスはこうも仰いました――「わたしは真理である」。だからこそ、入門講座で「キリストと出会う」という章（段階）がとても重要なのです。イエスとの出会い、イエスとの友情が、私たちの信仰を成長させます。
今日イエスは、私たち一人ひとりに問いかけておられます。「あなたは、わたしを何者だと言うのか？」
イエスをもっと深く、親しく知ることができるように祈りましょう。「主を知ることを追い求めよう。主は曙の光のように必ず現れ・・・我々を訪れてくださる」（ホセア6・3）

Scripture: Acts 12:1-11; Psalm 34:2 ; Tim. 4:6-18; Matt. 16:13-19
The bible is unique. The Bible is like no other book. The Bible is the word of God Himself. The Gospels were written 2000 years ago but “The word of God is living and active” (Heb.4:12). The Risen Jesus speaks to us in a living voice.
Let us put this into practice! In today’s Gospel Jesus looks into the face of each of us and asks this question: “WHO DO YOU SAY I AM ?” That is an extremely important question. Our answer must be honest. Jesus does not want what books or others say, Jesus wants a truly honest answer. (Even if one’s image of Jesus is somewhat hazy. Jesus always accepts us as we are.)
Jesus tells Peter, and us today, that the way we think of and imagine Jesus is a gift from God our Father. To really meet the Risen Jesus let us ask the Father for this beautiful gift.
From here I will share with you how I answer the question of Jesus. This is my image. Different people have different images.
I see Jesus as my close friend. Jesus said at the Last Supper to all of us “I call you my friend”. A friend is someone who knows everything about me, and always accepts me as I am. I can share my joys with Jesus my friend. Sometime when something good happens we humans have an urge to worries, or sickness, or just feel empty I can share these feelings with my friend Jesus. At times, I do not agree with the way Jesus is treating me, Jesus seems to be absent, because Jesus is my best friend I can trust him and tell him I do not like the way he is treating me. True friend us like that. I also see Jesus as my fellow traveler on my journey of life. Jesus says: “I AM THE WAY”. Jesus shows me the way or road of life, but Jesus also walks beside me. This gives me encouragement, support, guidance and strength.
While the teachings and commandment of Jesus, far, far more important in our faith is Jesus himself. Jesus says; “I AM THE TRUETH”. That is why is the course for preparation for Baptism, the section “Meeting Christ” is so important.That meeting, that friendship grows stronger and matures.
Jesus today asks each of us: “WHO DO YOU SAY I AM ?” Pray to now Jesus more closely. “That He Lord will show himself is as sure as the dawn ”(Hosea.6:3)
