聖書： 知恵 18：６-9 詩編33 ヘブライ 1１：１-１９ ルカ 12:32-４８
「天国」―私たちはこの言葉を何度も耳にしてきました。しかし、この天国という言葉の本来の意味を私たちは見失っていないでしょうか？
私たちは皆、必ず死ぬのです！このことは私たちに暗い気持ちを与えませんか？しかし、イエス様と共に歩み、この事実を直視するなら、希望と喜び、そして励ましを感じることができるでしょう。
私たちはいつ死ぬか分かりません。しかし、日々着実に、死・天国に近づいています。イエス様は今日私たちにこう言っています。「腰に帯を締め、ともし火をともしていなさい。」（ルカ１２章３５節）。この地上での私たちの人生は比較的短いものです。「自分たちは地上ではよそ者であり、仮住まいの者である」（ヘブライ11章13節）。
私たちは、新子安駅のすぐ後ろにある首都高速に乗れば、東京や羽田に行くことができます。右側が高速レーン、左側が一般レーンです。高速レーンは、急がなければならないので、ちょっとストレスが溜まりますね！
私たちの日常生活の旅路においても、高速レーンは、ストレスが多く、忙しすぎます。お金や物が強調され、そして出世、権力、名声を求めがちです。
今日の福音書の中で、イエス様はこう語っています。「小さな群れよ、恐れるな。あなたがたの父は喜んで神の国をくださる。自分の持ち物を売り払って施しなさい。」「あなたの富として、この世の物に重きを置いたり、頼ったりしてはいけません。あなたの真の富を天に積みなさい。」
これらの言葉を聞くと、その実践は難しそう、あるいは非現実的に思えるでしょう。しかし、イエス様は「わたしはあなたのそばにいて、あなたを助け、導く。」と言っておられます。ですから、祈りを通して、私たちの同伴者であるイエス様と繋がり続けましょう。
洗礼において、神は「oath(誓い)」を立てられます。父なる神は「divine pact(聖なる約束)」を結ばれます（今日の第一朗読（知恵の書）で使われている言葉です）。
アブラハムは私たちの模範です。彼にも同じ約束、つまりoathが与えられました。神はアブラハムにこう言われました。「わたしはあなたの盾となる」（つまり、神は私たちを守り、安全に保つという意味です）。アブラハムは神のoathを信じ、どこへ行くのか分からずに出発しました。そして、アブラハムの妻サラも神を信頼しました。
神はアブラハムをこの世にはない本当のわが家へと導いてくださいました。そして、神の子である私たちも天国にある本当のわが家へと導いてくださいます。
私たちはミサに集います。イエス様に、私たちと共に一週間の旅路を歩んでくださるよう祈りましょう。イエス様は私たちの導き手、励まし、希望です。イエス様は私たち一人ひとりに愛を与えてくださり、私たちはその愛に包まれています。
「大きな賜物が私たちに与えられました。」 イエス様に感謝し、その賜物を他の人と分かち合いましょう。 （T）

Scripture: Wisdom 18:6-9; Psalm 33; Hebrews 11:1-19; Luke 12:32-48
“Heaven” – we have heard the word so often. Has the word ‘heaven’ lost its real meaning for us?
Let us today face the fact – each of us will die! Does this question, this fact give us a dark feeling? If we face this fact WITH JESUS beside us, we can feel hope, joy and encouragement.
We do not know when we will die. However, day by day we are closer to death – and Heaven. Jesus tells us today “Stay awake and stand ready” (Luke 12:35). Our life on this earth is relatively short. “We are only strangers and nomads on earth” (Hebrews 11:13).
We can enter the toll road to Tokyo and Haneda just behind Shinkoyasu station. There is the fast lane on the right and the steady lane on the left. The fast lane is stressful!
The stressful fast lane in our daily life’s journey is being too busy, emphasizing money and goods, also seeking success, power and prestige.
Jesus tells us in today’s Gospel: “Do not be afraid, little flock, your Father gives you a kingdom. Sell what you have, give alms.”
Putting those words into context, Jesus is telling us: “Do not emphasize or rely on worldly goods, as your treasure. Put your true treasure in Heaven.”
When we hear those words, dose the practice sound difficult – or even impractical? But Jesus says “I will be at your side to help and guide you.” So let us keep in contact with our fellow–traveler by praying. We need to keep in contact with Jesus.
At our Baptism God takes an ‘oath’. God our Father makes a ‘divine pact’ (Words used in our today’s 1st Widom reading.)
Abraham is given to us as our model. The same promise or oath was made to him too. God said to Abraham: “I will be your shield” (That means, God will protect us and keep us safe.) Abraham trusted God’s oath, so he set out not knowing where he was going.”
God guided Abraham to his real home not seen in this world! God guide us his children to our real home in Heaven. Sarah, Abraham’s wife trusted God too.
We gather at Mass together. We ask Jesus to walk the week’s journey with us. Jesus is our guide, encouragement and hope. Jesus gives each of us his love. We are surrounded in love.
Indeed, as the last line today’s Gospel says: “A big gift has been given us.”
Let us thank Jesus and share the gift with others.
